When I was working I used to be really excited that it's FRIDAY! It means that I can have the weekend doing what I love to do most. Now that I'm not working I'm also excited that it's Friday because it means that hubby can spend the weekend with me..hahaha..There is so many thing to see and places to go down here. We have only been here about 3 weeks but it's already feel like home and I'm getting used to this place. Now I'm just waiting to get my resume approved/changed by hubby's aunt+uncle's friend and then I can start applying for jobs. Their friend used to work at the recruiting office and she can offer suggestions to make my resume better.*finger cross*
I'm also hoping that this weekend we can hit some malls because so far I've not yet visited any malls.
Last weekend we went for some dim sum with hubby's aunt+uncle and then we went to Louisiana with SIL and her hubby plus his side of the family. It was SIL's MIL's birthday and they invited us to the casino and since we haven't been there before we decided to join them (sob sob no we didn't win but it was an experience though). I felt so bad because Stanley was in his crate for such a long time and I forgot to give him a snack in the afternoon before we left so by the we got back which was about midnight because there was an accident on the highway Stanley was so hungry and I bet he had to go to the bathroom really bad too. I wished I would have asked aunt/uncle to watch him for us then that would not happened! I'm such a bad mummy! I need to find where the dog park is too so that we can try and bring Stanley there this weekend. Since we have a fenced yard this two days I've been trying to take Stanley out without putting on his leash. He is not used to not having a leash and the first few times he just stood in front of the door like his feet was glued to the ground. I've let him run loose up north before but he'll run really far away but this time I noticed that he hasn't really done that yet I'm not sure whether is it due to the fact that he's not used to it or he hasn't seen any rabbits/squirrels to chase around.

Finally I am able to find time, sit down, relax and update my rusty old blog. I would like to thank everyone for being with us through our journey of moving and giving me the support that I need. It's been a quick but long journey and I'm glad that we have arrived at our destination in one piece!
Our journey to our new place have been a mixture of stress, excitement and fun. We have had to deal with a lot of thing at our old house before we can officially leave. When we got here we had to deal with getting hooked up with stuff. We were actually without electricity for THREE whole days due to the fact that there was a day of public holiday and they actually screwed up something in their system. Hubby was pretty pissed about it but there was nothing much we could really do. Can you imagine 3 days without AIR! Apart from that we had to wait 5 days to get our Internet hooked up which was not a big deal but we were just not used to not having Internet at home. We have been visiting and going places ever since we got here. Thing here are a little more expensive than what we were paying before but there is nothing we can do about it. I'm loving this place and all I need to do now is start looking for jobs!(That's the hard part!)
We've managed to almost furnished the essentials that we need for the house. We got our bed, TV and the refrigerator the first couple of days we were here and a week after that we managed to buy a washer and dryer. We still need to look for a couch and a study table for hubby but that can be done later.
Stanley has been a really good boy through the entire journey. He's just been really attached to us especially me. We are wondering whether is it because of the change of environment. He's been sleeping a lot too but we think that's because of the heat in Houston. I was unpacking the stuff for the kitchen the first few days we were here and the funny thing about him was he just wanted to be there with me and since his crate is near the kitchen area he went in and took his naps which he would never go in to his crate without being told but ever since we moved here he's been going in his crate more. I just thought that it's funny but I was told that maybe because we are in a new environment and his crate is the place where he's "used" to that's why he's going in there willingly more.
Moving can be fun but it cost a lot of money actually. We had to spend a bunch of money before we left, for the journey and now here. We have to refurnished our new place because we didn't have any room to take any of our furniture with us. With me not being working and trying to save money for the wedding in Malaysia and getting another house here we'll just have to make do with what we can for the mean time. I'm luckily at this point we only have Stanley and not a baby to think about too..Hubby and I talked about it maybe in the next couple of years but we'll see because I'm happy at where we are currently actually..
p/s: maybe in the next couple of years I'll have a little girl friend for baby shern..*wink wink* that's also if he's not taken or have a ton of girl friends at that time..lol

Hubby and I both wear glasses and it's been about 2 years since we changed our glasses. Hubby is due for another eye exam and I came across Zennioptical.com that sells stylist prescription glass online from only $8.00! Zenni optical has a huge selection of frames, with single vision lens, sunsensor (potochromic)lens, tinted sunglasses lens, bifocal lens and progressive lens. UPDATE!UPDATE!

I'm trying to sneak in some time to blog. There is so much that I want to blog about but the time that I'm thinking of using to blog might not allow me to blog everything that I have in my mind.
I'm getting even more nervous about moving now. Yesterday marks the last day for me at Menards. I've had my share of bad and good times there. Yesterday they had a little pot luck for me even though it's the busiest time of the week and they even gave me a farewell card. I was really touched! I took the card out again today and read it and it actually made me tear. I really miss so of them there.
Fast forward..today the home inspector(private) came and inspected our home. Most of the stuff seems fine and not a ton to worry about but I was sick to my stomach just waiting and waiting for the results. Another thing is worrying me is the buyers loan inspection meaning because they are applying for a federal loan call the FHA loan (not sure what it means) they are going to need to have a FHA inspector come and inspect the house too and from what I heard from the home inspector today they can be pretty strict on the inspection. Our biggest problem is that we are trying to leave by tomorrow, latest Saturday therefore we won't be here when the FHA inspector comes and if there is anything that needs to be done we are not able to do it and will have to depend on FIL *faint*..that's why hubby and I are (more me) kind of freaking out.
Rewind...The last couple of weeks hubby's sister, aunt and uncle have been trying to find a place for us there. At first we were suppose to rent hubby's aunt's neighbour's house but all of a sudden the lady said that she don't have time to clean up her house and her new husband just wants her to sell it (WTF) first she said it was a good idea and then she suddenly changed her mind. Hubby was starting to freak out and get stress because we want to find a place and move in as soon as we get there. He's out of town training for his job, and the house inspector was coming but he can't get home in time. I'm freaking out over EVERYTHING! but anyway as of right now we found a house and they are suppose to be processing our applications (apparently when you rent down there there is a process of credit and back ground checks etc)
So here I am sneaking in some time (I'm suppose to be packing/cleaning), waiting for hubby to return hopefully in the next 5 hrs maybe. I miss blogging/taking with everyone..I can't wait to have my normal life back.
Rewind..another thing that's making me nervous is I NEED to find a job down there which I've heard from everyone that's not a problem but I do have problems finding jobs so let's just cross my fingers and see when I get there.
I'll hopefully try and update more as we start our journey....

This was kind off a surprise because hubby didn't really want to do it at the beginning and he decided thought we should give it a world..HOUSTON here we come!!I can't wait for the good food, good shopping and fun stuff to do!Hooray!!Anyway I'll be back hopefully soon/more..

It's not that I'm being lazy..I don't even have enough time to sleep moreover blog. I have been really busy at work AND at home..I am going to update really soon as soon as everything settles in a little more..Promise to be back with updates really soon.

Great Weekend with yummy food!

Stanley got up and wanted to go outside so hubby got up to take him up and was going to make breakfast but for some reason I just didn't want to eat at home. So I suggested that we go to OCB for breakfast (I actually went there last Sunday too). We came home after breakfast and hubby had to do his school work while I was playing on line and also the PSP. At about 2pm he got a call that there was a place down and it needed fixed today. I tagged along with hubby since it was a Saturday and I was glad I did yesterday. We went to Rock Falls Raceway and so happened that day they had races going on that's why they needed their pump fixed right away. I was so fascinated by the cars there. There were quite a number of people there but it wasn't full because the weather wasn't the greatest on Saturday and with the price of race fuel people wouldn't want to go if the weather is not beautiful.

We were planning on going for a movie in the afternoon but since hubby had to work we decided to go later in the evening. After we were done with the service call we came home and hubby continued his assignment while I took a nap before the movie.
Yeah we watched Ironman..It's an awesome movie and I'm glad we made it! We took BIL with us because he wanted to watch it too and since we were going to watch it we decided to go with him. This is a must watch movie..

I got up today feeling tired and lazy but managed to get my butt out of bed and made breakfast which consist of instant noodle..*blush* After that I did two loads of laundry before heading out. Hubby stayed home with Stanley while I went to the mall to get my make up and facial stuff and went to the groceries store to get some groceries. I felt pretty bad spending so much money today that I decided to make hubby a nice dinner. I've not cooked in about a month because we've been so busy and I've been horribly ill.

I first made some meat balls so I could cook spaghetti and meat balls. Then I proceed to make croutons so we could have some with our salad; after that it was banana cake and lastly garlic bread.

Croutons

Ingredients
3 pieces of bread
Olive oil
1 tsp seasoning salt
garlic powder
Italian seasoning

Directions
1. Cut bread into bite size cubes
2. Place pieces of bread in a bowl; drizzle oil as you stir. The more oil you use the more melt in your mouth it is. The amount of oil you want to use depends on your preference
3. Sprinkle with season salt, garlic powder, Italian seasoning. You can try other seasoning or sprinkle some parmesan cheese too.
4. Bake at 350°F for about 15 minutes stirring once

Salad and croutons.

Cheesy Garlic Bread

Ingredients
1/2C margarine
3 or more teaspoon of chopped garlic
1/2 tsp of garlic powder
1/8 tsp of pepper
1/3C parmesan cheese
3/4C grated cheddar cheese
Bread

Directions

1. Microwave margarine in a bowl until half melted for about 40 seconds
2. Mix all ingredients
3. Spread mixture over bread
5. Bake for 450°F about 10 minutes or until golden brown.






Homemade Spaghetti sauce and meat balls.

Banana bread

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 bananas, mashed
3/4 cup brown + white sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/3 cup oil, or melted butter
Directions
1. In a large bowl, mix together 1 1/2 cups flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. In another bowl, beat together bananas, sugar, egg and melted butter. Stir the banana mixture into the flour mixture just until moistened. Pout into prepared pan.

2. Bake in preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of the cake comes out clean.

Everything seems pretty simple but if made all at once it tends to be a lot of work but it's worth it after filling our tummies up and because we now have a ton of food for the week. I was thinking of ironing the clothes too after I take a shower but by the time we got done eating and taking a shower I'm too tired to iron. I tend to be very slow at ironing and it'll take me forever to iron the clothes that we have in the basket so I guess those will have to wait. :P..

I still need to fold and keep the clothes away I guess it'll be the next thing I'll have to do after I'm done here. I need a maid!!I miss having one actually..this is what sucks about living in a western country, maids are expensive!!
